The Aqua Pacer works on he principle of resistance, combined with a low impact workout in a controlled environment. Varying the water levels and treadmill speeds will offer different levels of resistance for strengthening and conditioning. In the aqua pacer, the horse becomes somewhat buoyant, thus reducing its weight bearing by 40-60%. This allows the horse to work gently at their own pace, without the stress and concussion of groundwork. The Aqua Pacer also produces hydrostatic pressure to assist blood flow and reduce inflammation , thereby accelerating the recovery time for many injuries and lameness.
